As is known, a cylinder steel bar is an important compose of hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder, of which the quality determines directly the working state of a cylinder structure. When making choice of a material for it, the load is a main factor we usually refers to, and the specific requests come to the second to choose from different materials. Then how to do it practically?
Here are some proposals:
1. If for requirement of corrosion resistance, a material chromium-plated is needed;
2. Generally, the rod is a solid cylinder. Nevertheless, if for a large diameter, a 45# seamless steel tube is an appropriate choice.
3. In most cases, 45# is employed for a piston rod. However, if under working conditions of high impact or heavy load, 40Cr is needed for satisfaction of high working strength.
Notes: before processing of a cylinder steel bar, the raw material needs a serial treatment like quenching and tempering after forging and rough machining to achieve a hardness of HB230-250, which can improve efficiently the processing machinability and the working strength.
